Set in the vibrant Senegambia region near the Jawara-Kairaba International Airport, The Luxurious Motherland venue is preparing to welcome the West African Social Media Awards on December 12, 2025.
This prestigious event will gather guests in The Gambia, known as the smiling coast of West Africa. The West Africa Social Media Awards (WASMA) originated as the Salone Social Media Awards in Sierra Leone, aiming to acknowledge and honour individuals and organizations leveraging social media positively. The evolution into the West Africa Social Media Awards included a successful previous edition held in the Netherlands.
Co-Founder of WASMA, Issa Kamara, also known as Dr. Love, shared his excitement about bringing the awards back to West Africa. He praised his dedicated team across Africa and Europe for their efforts in planning a successful event and expressed gratitude to the Gambian government and private sector for their support of WASMA.
Kamara announced that nominations will soon be revealed, with online voting to follow on the WASMA website. He encouraged everyone to mark their calendars and join the red carpet event at The Luxurious Motherland venue in The Gambia on December 12, 2025.
