The highly anticipated high-level General Debate at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York is set to commence in under 20 minutes. Over 150 Heads of State and Government are scheduled to deliver speeches at this year’s UNGA.
Maintaining the UN tradition, the Brazilian President will be the first to address the assembly, followed by the host country’s President, Donald Trump.
Today, five African countries will be represented in the debates. South Africa will be the sole African country speaking in the morning session, while Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mozambique are scheduled to speak during the afternoon session. All five African Presidents from these countries will deliver speeches today, and each speaker is allotted a maximum of 15 minutes.
The General Debate, commencing today, will extend until the 29th of September 2025, providing a platform for global leaders to address critical issues.
