Myam Emmanuel Aoundoungwa, also known as Emmiwuks, a 25-year-old humanitarian from Benue State, Nigeria, is currently touring from Africa to the USA. The young adventurer, who is currently in Liberia en route to Sierra Leone, has expressed his admiration for the country.
“Sierra Leone represents strength, history, and beauty that the world needs to see,” Emmiwuks said in an exclusive interview with EyeWitnessNews.
Having commenced his journey on July 27, 2024, Emmiwuks aims to cycle from Nigeria to the United States. His project, Nigeria2USA on Bicycle, is far more than a personal adventure; “it is a mission to tell Africa’s story — a story of resilience, unity, and boundless kindness, he says.
Since departing Nigeria, he said he has pedalled through multiple countries, immersing himself in the culture, hospitality, and warmth of every community he passes.
“Every community I ride through has added its heartbeat to this mission,” he says. Along the way, I have been welcomed into homes, shared in the histories of village elders, and inspired young people with my courage. These experiences have strengthened my conviction that Africa is rich in generosity, culture, and humanity — stories the world urgently needs to see. He confirmed with EyeWitnessNews.
“I am riding for causes bigger than myself,” he said. “I am a passionate advocate for orphans, vulnerable children, and internally displaced persons across Africa. Through my journey, I am seeking to challenge global perceptions of the continent, highlighting its diversity, traditions, and hospitality.”
He said he hopes to inspire young Africans, proving that seemingly impossible dreams can be realised through courage, resilience, and faith. “I want Africans to see that their dreams are valid and achievable,” he explains.
Sierra Leone holds a special place in my journey,” Emmiwuks says. For him, the country is more than a stop on the map — it is a milestone where stories of resilience, culture, and humanity can be amplified. He hopes to celebrate Sierra Leone’s vibrant culture, tourism, and people while building meaningful partnerships with leaders, institutions, and organizations that share his vision of a united and inspiring Africa. The historic and cultural ties between Nigeria and Sierra Leone make this stop particularly significant.
During his time in Sierra Leone, he said he intends to meet with government officials, the Nigerian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, cultural leaders, media houses, influencers, and organizations committed to social impact. These engagements are designed to amplify the voices of Africa’s most vulnerable, forge sustainable collaborations, and ensure that his mission leaves a lasting legacy. “This journey is bigger than me. It is about connecting communities, amplifying voices, and showing that Africa’s story can be heard globally,” he emphasizes.
According to Emmiwuks “my bicycle carries one man”, but this journey carries the hopes and aspirations of a continent. Each mile tells a story of courage, endurance, and compassion. My mission is a reminder that Africa is not just a land of challenges, but a continent of immense potential, beauty, and unity. He further explained, “Together, we can inspire hope, raise awareness for the vulnerables, and show that Africa’s story is one of greatness, resilience, and solidarity,” he concludes.
More than a personal feat, Emmiwuks’ ride is a continental movement — a living testament to Africa’s spirit and a call for the world to witness the resilience, unity, and extraordinary potential of the continent.
