A fire broke out at Sierra Leone’s State House on Saturday afternoon, engulfing part of the building which serves as the primary workplace for the President of Sierra Leone. Spectators witnessed smoke billowing from the top floor of the edifice at Tower Hill.
EyeWitnessNews, reporting from the scene, could not determine the cause of the fire. By 5:46 PM, the Sierra Leone Fire Force had successfully extinguished the fire. Fortunately, the incident occurred on a Saturday when most staff members were not in the office.
Although the exact cause remains unknown, government vehicles were observed arriving at the scene as the firefighters worked to contain the blaze. The historic State House, originally constructed in 1894 during British colonial rule, houses various offices, including that of the Chief Minister.
