The West Africa Social Media Awards are set to dazzle attendees at the prestigious Motherland venue in The Gambia. The country is proudly hosting the 2025 edition on December 12th, drawing a crowd from both the public and private sectors.
Anticipation is high as notable figures gear up to grace the Red Carpet, including The Gambian First Lady, H.E Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow; The Gambian Police Chief; the mayor of Banjul; and various advisors to the President of The Gambia, alongside international guests.
Flying in from Sierra Leone, the Country Manager of AMIN Electricals/ICONA Sierra Leone, Jayesh, will join his team for the grand event. Meanwhile, WASMA’s Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji Issa Kamara, currently based in Germany, has already arrived in Banjul a week ahead of the star-studded affair, collaborating with President of WASMA Bassamba Drammeh and their team from The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, and Nigeria to put the finishing touches on the awards.
Originally known as the Salone Social Media Awards in Sierra Leone, the West Africa Social Media Awards (WASMA) have grown to celebrate individuals and organisations making a positive impact through social media. The journey from its Sierra Leonean roots now includes a successful previous edition held in the Netherlands.
