The President of ECOWAS Commission, His Excellency Dr Omar Alieu Touray on 3 January 2025 paid an assessment visit to ECOMIG Force Headquarters Bakau. The objective of the visit was for the President to have a spot- assessment of the Mission and appraise the personnel’s readiness to actualize its mandate. The event commenced with an inspection of the Quarter Guard by The President ECOWAS Commission at the Forecourt of the Force Headquarters. Thereafter, the President was briefed on the operational activities of the personnel as well as the challenges confronting the mission.
The President in his remarks, appreciated the personnel for their efforts and charged them to remain resolute towards actualization of the ECOMIG mandate. He noted that the Commission would continue to provide the support needed by the personnel to realise mission objectives. He promised to look into the challenges and issues raised during the brief. The Force Commander ECOMIG, Colonel Ndiagne Diouf presented a souvenir to the President ECOWAS Commission and the Head of Mission ECOMIG and Resident Representative of the President ECOWAS Commission to the Gambia, Her Excellency Miatta Lily French. He further thanked the President for the visit and wished him journey mercies back to his destination. Present during the occasion were Staff officers of the Force Headquarters and Commanders of the Senegalese, Nigerian and Ghanaian Contingents
