Managing director and group chief executive officer of TAF Africa Global Mustapha Njie says he wouldn’t have invested in Sierra Leone if he had listened to people. Njie expressed this sentiment during a tour of TAF Microcity with Dr. Turad Senesi, the Minister of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning, at the John Obey site.
Njie recounted that most individuals he consulted about investing in Sierra Leone expressed negative opinions. However, after encouragement from President Julius Maada Bio and the Sierra Leone High Commission in The Gambia, Njie decided to pursue the investment. He credited Dr Turad Senesi, who walked approximately three to four kilometres to show him the project site and facilitated the necessary processes, such as providing the land and signing an MOU.
Njie expressed his faith in Dr. Turad Senesi’s ability to advance the project and shared his gratitude for the support received. Dr Turad Senesi reciprocated by stating that the project was President Julius Maada Bio’s initiative and assured Njie of continued government support. Despite challenges faced after a failed coup on November 26, Njie persevered in his commitment to the housing sector, a dedication commended by Minister Senesi. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction, which aims to provide 5000 affordable homes at John Obey, on the outskirts of Freetown.
