Sierra Leone was one of the countries that voted in favor of the resolution at the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, calling for an immediate humanitarian truce between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The resolution received overwhelming support, with 120 countries in favor, 14 against (including Israel and the United States), and 45 abstentions. The passing of the resolution also demands access to aid in Gaza.
It is worth noting that Sierra Leone had previously announced plans to open an embassy in al-Quds, but the Gaza-based Hamas resistance movement denounced this decision, urging Sierra Leone to align itself with the rights of the Palestinian people and their national cause.
Israeli-Gaza war has resulted in thousands of casualties. It’s been more than 20 days since the war started.
