Sierra Leone’s Former President Ernest Bai Koroma has issued a press statement, condemning violence and expressing his commitment towards peace and nation-building. Koroma stated that he always discourages and condemns violence in the strongest terms and that his desire is to allow peace to reign in the country.
The press statement came days after President Julius Maada Bio called on Koroma and the presidential aspirant for the All Peoples Congress party (APC), Dr Samura Kamara, to openly denounce and dissociate themselves from violent incidents in the country during their campaigns.
Koroma highlighted some of the activities he had participated in with international organizations in the past, which were geared towards peace and democratic transition. He called on political leaders and their surrogates to abstain from any inflammatory statements and instead demonstrate leadership in bringing an end to the tension within the country.
Only hope he. is sincere with the nation
