
APC presidential aspirant Samura Kamara has said they will not be intimidated by the ruling government. His remarks were made while campaigning in Tombo, a fishing community on the outskirts of Freetown.
“Nobody will intimidate us again,” he said “because what happened in 2018 will not happen again.”
According to him, they will not allow the upcoming elections to be rigged against them.
APC has already won the election, he announced to his supporters. It is important to let all those concerned know.
In the pasts,APC supporters and security forces have clashed in opposition strongholds, resulting in some incarcerations and deaths.
The general election is less than a month away, and political parties are aggressively campaigning.
As in 2018, Dr Samura Kamara will face off against President Julius Maada Bio.
In the first round of the 2018 election, both Bio and Kamara failed to meet the threshold for winning. The former garnered 42.68% of the votes while the latter garnered 43.26%. With 51% of the vote, President Bio defeated Dr Samura with 48%.
A total of thirteen political parties have been registered with the Sierra Leone Electoral Commission (ECSL) to participate in the election on June 24. But the contest is between the Sierra Leone People’s Party and the All People’s Congress.
