The government of Sierra Leone supports a two-state resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, according to Foreign Minister Timothy Musa Kabba.
In an interview on 98.1 ‘Good Morning Salone’ program on December 22, Kabba stated that Sierra Leone, as a member of the C24, opposes decolonization and the inalienable right of people to exist in a sovereign state. He emphasized Sierra Leone’s support for the existence of Palestine and a two-state solution.
Kabba also clarified that having an embassy in Israel, a recognized government, does not contradict Sierra Leone’s stance. He highlighted the ongoing relationship between Sierra Leone and both Israel and Palestine.Kabba stated that Sierra Leone has consistently voted in favor of humanitarian ceasefires to end the fighting in Gaza, as it believes a two-state solution is the only way for Israel and Palestine to have clear borders and pursue peace and happiness.
Despite the ongoing conflict, Sierra Leone maintains relationships with both countries. The United Nations is seeking a ceasefire and increased aid in Gaza, with a delayed vote expected to take place on Friday.
