Bryan David Hunt, the United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, has said a thriving creative sector promotes tourism, international exchanges, and businesses.
“So supporting the Arts is not just good for the soul, it’s good for the country,” Ambassador Hunt said.
Ambassador Hunt’s remarks were made during the Arts in Embassies program event celebrating World Wetlands Day at his residence in Sierra Leone. Several paintings were showcased, with the Ambassador personally welcoming guests and guiding them through the exhibition. He thanked the participating artists and emphasized the importance of preserving natural environments and cultural traditions.
He explained that the Arts in Embassies program, established 61 years ago, aims to showcase American artworks in US embassies and official residences worldwide, providing a cultural exchange opportunity and highlighting the similarities between different cultures. Ambassador Hunt also highlighted the significance of World Wetlands Day in raising awareness about the importance of wetlands for both people and the planet.
Ambassador Hunt stressed the value of cultural preservation and environmental conservation in creating connections between nations and fostering mutual understanding.
