The Gambia is open for business, according to Presidential Youth Advisor Lamin K Saidy. He made the statement during a business dinner with the ICONA Sierra Leone Country Manager and his team. Saidy welcomed the ICONA team to The Gambia, highlighting President Adama Barrow’s focus on job creation, especially for young people.
Saidy assured that the government is committed to creating a conducive environment for foreign businesses to thrive in The Gambia. ICONA’s Jayesh expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and thanked Saidy for attending the dinner. He pledged the company’s commitment to expanding and creating more jobs for Gambians.
As part of its social responsibility, ICONA donated 1,000 flashlights to The Gambian Police Force, with Jayesh promising more support in the future.
Lamin K Saidy is a prominent Gambian youth leader known for mediating the GALA (Gambians Against Looted Assets) protest, where he successfully negotiated with youth protesters after tensions rose over the government’s handling of seized assets from ex-president Yaya Jammeh’s regime.
Saidy is a prominent youth leader who has a wealth of experience in youth development work. Mr Saidy has been a pioneering member of prominent youth led organisations such as National Youth Parliament, YALI Gambia Chapter , Youth Action Movemet, etc.
During a moment of calm, Saidy silently supports the youth, and in a moment of crisis, he is always visible, playing a role expected of him.
