The Original Bollywood Fan Club (OBFC) Sierra Leone has paid tribute to the legendary actor Dharmendra. Dharmendra died on Monday in Mumbai at the age of 89, less than two weeks before his 90th birthday.
Tributes have been pouring in from movie lovers all around the world. The President of The Original Bollywood Fan Club Sierra Leone, Fanta Sheriff, in a statement sent to SaloneJamboree, reads: “With 22+ blockbusters, 70+ hits, and a career spanning 65 years, he stands among the greatest superstars of Indian cinema, an actor who was a god to the mass audience, the heartbeat of the class audience, and the beloved son of every family audience. Today, he has passed away. While we all mourn his loss, let us also celebrate his extraordinary life and legacy.”
The statement reads further, “Dharmendra Saab was not only a legendary superstar, but an even greater human being, pure-hearted and warm-spirited. Aap Har dilo mein hamesha Zinda raenge Saab.”
A tribute from the Deol Family Sierra Leone, another movie fan club, reads: “Today, we mourn the loss of a true luminary in the world of cinema, Dharmendra. An iconic figure in the Indian film industry, he was not just an actor but a beloved symbol of strength, resilience, and humility. His journey from a small-town boy to one of Bollywood’s biggest stars is a testament to his unwavering determination and immense talent. Dharmendra captivated audiences with his unforgettable roles in Sholay and Chupke Chupke. He left an incredible mark on the hearts of millions. He was not just a hero on screen, but a true gentleman off it, known for his warm heart and generous spirit. Rest in peace, Dharmendra Ji.”
A member of the OBFC group, Hawa Kamara, popularly known as Hawa Raveena, said Dharmendra had many impacts on her life, “I grew up in a movie home. My father is a big fan of Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachan, so these actors were all part of our household. My father introduced Dharmendra’s films like ‘Sholay’ to us. So to us, he is not just a legendary actor; we consider him part of our family,” she said.
Dharmendra, fondly known as Bollywood’s He-Man, started his movie career in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. The action hero starred in several hit movies. His last film, Ikkis, will be released in December 2025.
