Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, has called on his cabinet ministers to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions for the people of Sierra Leone. He made this plea during the swearing-in ceremony of his cabinet ministers, stating that he wanted them to bring fresh ideas to the table. The ceremony took place at the State House and comes more than a month after President Bio won the presidential and local council elections with 56% of the votes.
President Bio stressed the importance of unity among his cabinet ministers, urging them to love and support one another. He believes that a cohesive team will be able to achieve more for the country. He also mentioned that his cabinet comprises a diverse group of people and called on them to work together to deliver for the people of Sierra Leone, expressing his desire to see results from their efforts.
President Bio highlighted the progress made by his government in the past five years, specifically mentioning a reduction in the infant mortality rate. He also commended Sierra Leone for being one of the most peaceful countries in West Africa and Africa as a whole, calling for pride in this achievement.
It is worth noting that President Bio’s cabinet includes some of the youngest ministers in Sierra Leone’s history, with most of them being under 40 years old. However, the opposition All Peoples Congress has challenged the results of the June 24 elections, alleging electoral theft. As a result, they have decided not to participate in the government.
