Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has dismissed the Minister of Youth, Mohamed Orman Bangura, and two other officials. On Monday, a public notice signed by the Secretary to the President announced the removal of these individuals from their positions. The other ousted officials are Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Moriba Koroma and Managing Director of the Sierra Leone Shipping Company, Mohamed Saybom Kanu. No explanation was provided for their dismissal. Reports suggest that Youth Envoy Yulisa Ahmadu was implicated in a visa scam amounting to over $100,000.
A social media user named Amy Berry shared a TikTok video claiming that the Youth Envoy had taken thousands of dollars from her, allegedly stating that the Minister would also receive a share of the money. It remains uncertain whether the sacking of the Youth Minister is connected to these allegations.
