Liberia’s Joint Security has begun the destruction of large quantities of cocaine with a combined estimated street value of US$336 million, following two separate anti-drug operations that led to the seizures.The destruction exercise is taking place in Zeewhorr, Margibi County, under tight security and in the presence of senior government officials.
Among those attending the event are the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Liberia, Cllr. Oswald Natu Tweh, the Minister of Information, the Executive Director of the Executive Protection Service (EPS), Sam Gaye, and other high-ranking government and security officials.
According to authorities, the cocaine being destroyed includes separate consignments valued at US$19 million and US$317 million, underscoring the government’s intensified efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking and protect the country from the dangers of narcotics.
The public destruction of the seized drugs demonstrates the Liberian government’s commitment to enforcing the rule of law, strengthening national security, and ensuring that confiscated narcotics are permanently removed from circulation.
