Duazon, Margibi County – Joint security forces led by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) have conducted what authorities describe as the largest drug seizure in Liberia’s history.
The operation, carried out in Duazon, Margibi County, resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of several sealed packages believed to contain a significant quantity of high-grade cocaine valued at more than US$50 million.
According to security officials, the seizure represents a major breakthrough in Liberia’s ongoing fight against illicit drug trafficking. Authorities have launched an intensive investigation aimed at identifying and dismantling the criminal network linked to the shipment.
Speaking on the development, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah stated that the successful operation demonstrates the Government of Liberia’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and preventing the country from becoming a transit point or safe haven for international drug syndicates.
The LDEA, in collaboration with other security agencies, has assured the public that additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
